Initial Enrolment

Steps to follow

If this is the first time you are being offered TimCare Flex benefits, simply follow these steps to choose your benefit options and enrol in TimCare Flex:

  • Ask your manager if you are eligible. If so, make sure your manager gives you your enrolment kit—it includes the login ID and password you’ll need to enrol plus it gives you your enrolment deadline.
  • Watch the video and review the Learn section of this site to be sure you understand your options.
  • Once you’re ready to make your choice, go to the GroupNet Flex enrolment site and enter your login ID and password (from your enrolment kit) to log on to the site.
  • Follow the directions to complete the online enrolment form.
  • Once you’ve made your choice, select “Confirm” to ensure that your decision is recorded.

Be sure to make your choice before the deadline shown in your enrolment kit!

Your coverage will begin on the date shown in your kit even if you enrol after the date has passed, as long as you meet the enrolment deadline.

  • IMPORTANT! When you enrol, be sure to check your home mailing address for accuracy—or enter your address if it is not already on the site. Your address is needed so that Canada Life can mail you your plan membership card. It’s also good to enter an email address where you can be reached by Canada Life.

Minimum Coverage If You Don't Enrol or Refuse Coverage

If you are eligible for TimCare, you will get the minimum coverage unless you either refuse coverage or enrol and choose a different coverage. Minimum coverage includes:

  • Core Health coverage
  • Core Team Member Life Insurance
  • Core Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
  • Core Long-Term Disability coverage (but only if you work at least 28 hours per week on average)

Refuse Coverage

If you are eligible for TimCare Flex, but want to refuse coverage, follow these steps:

1. Ask your manager for your enrolment kit—it includes the login ID and password you’ll need to access the GroupNet Flex enrolment site plus it gives you your enrolment deadline

2. Go to the GroupNet Flex enrolment site and enter your login ID and password (from your enrolment kit) to log on to the site

3. On the left-hand side of the home page, click on “Other forms”

4. Click on the “Refusal of coverage” form. Print out the form, complete it and sign it. Then fax or email a scan of the form to Canada Life as per the instructions provided on the form.

Be sure to take action before the deadline shown in your enrolment kit!

Selecting beneficiaries – IMPORTANT

When you enrol, you will need to select beneficiaries for your Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance coverages.

When you’ve finished enrolling, be sure to print your beneficiary form, sign it, and mail it to Canada Life at the address on the form.

It is very important to actually mail a signed form to Canada Life. Without the signed form, your beneficiary election will not be valid. If you die, your benefit will be paid to your estate instead of your beneficiary.
